Collection: Gardelli 🇮🇹

Founded in 2011 in Forlì by Rubens Gardelli, 2017 World Coffee Roasting Champion, Gardelli only selects micro-lots approved in blind cupping. Each lot gets a tailored roast, then optical sorting, to bring out the flavours of its terroir.

Gardelli was born in the family café. In Forlì, in Emilia-Romagna, between Bologna and the Adriatic, Rubens Gardelli started roasting around 2010 on a machine he built himself, in his parents' café. His mother has been part of the adventure since day one. Gardelli Specialty Coffees became one of Italy's very first specialty micro-roasteries, in a country where dark-roasted espresso is still the norm.

World Roasting Champion

Rubens started competing in 2014 and won the Italian Roasting Championship at his first attempt. He won it four years in a row, from 2014 to 2017. At world level, he climbed every year, 7th in Rimini in 2014, 6th in Gothenburg in 2015, 5th in Shanghai in 2016, before winning the World Coffee Roasting Championship in 2017 in Guangzhou.

Roasting to Order, Growing Slowly

The house roasts only quantities that have already been ordered, so the coffee always ships fresh, and Rubens openly limits growth so as never to compromise on quality. The profiles are clear and sweet, designed to bring out the origin, as filter or espresso. The selection covers the great origins, from Kenya to Ethiopia, Colombia to Honduras, with lots from named producers.

Gardelli coffees are easy to spot by their pink bags, which have become a signature in European specialty coffee.
